copy-cats !!

Imagine u are a chef travelling around the globe. Obviously, every hotel u visit, u will try to find out the dishes they serve, their speciality and their tastes. And if u happen to like something or think that it will be liked by ppl around u too. What u are going to do? You will try to get the recipe and contents of the same, prepare it as per ur or according to the taste of ppl around u !! Correcto????? Though the original creation is by someone else, you and ppl around u will enjoy it, no matter where from u learnt to prepare the dish !!
Its not just with the chef, even women when go to some relatives places and find something tasty/interesting, they will surely enquire about its recipe and will try to make it at home so that all family members can N'joy it.

The same happens with movies too!! Recently I watched Zinda!!
I liked the movie very much may be coz of its treatment, performances and sticking-to-the-plot screenplay. Later came to know about that its a copy of some old English or chinese movie. For me, I never heard about that movie and even never planned to see it. So, for me Zinda rocked !! And offcourse, the original everywhere/everytime rocks !! Most of the bollywood movies are said to be copied from either hollywood/chinese or south movies. I am happy to see the remakes as long as the movie comes out to be good. When the contets are too much manipulated and originality of the idea gone, the movie is anyway not interested and nobody want to see the movie. But, the recipe u wrote, when trying for urself, sometime it clicks and sometime doesn't!! So, insted of blaming the copy-cat industry, lets welcome and thnx them for making a good work for reaching out to large audinece !!

I heard ( not seen unfortunately) that BLACK is the best movie last year and all blamed it to be a remake of some english movie. Gimme a break. though the theme is copied, it was completely agreeable to remade it as the original movie, how many seen it before. He made the world of blind been seen by all indians. The movie is been refused an oscar entry. but sweeped away witth all teh appreciation it can get for the wonderful performaces and a beautiful direction !!

Anyways, some are best copy cats like Sanjay Gupta (Kaante/plan/Zinda/Musafir). some are ok types like Vikram Bhatt. and some just fail to create any fire at the BoxOffice !!
But, there are some original scripts too, but not necessarily everybody likes it and can ralate with. So, its not a prob to have copy cats in the industry.
The unavoidable comparison between a copy and original is always been there, but it doesn't lessen an inch of work they put in to make it, agree?

!! ZINDA !!

Movie : Zinda.
Director : Sanjay Gupta.
Genre: Thriller/Action.

Welcome to the no non-sense erra of films. The film stick to its plot, no faltoo deviations, no unnecessary songs, no extra comic characters.
Serious from the very first frame, the movie keeps u hooked for its entire length. Every frame is watchable. One of the finest performaces by SanjuBaba and John.

Plot : One Bala(Sanju) was put in a cage for 14 years without any reasons, without knowing the intentions. He spent 14 years preparing for himself to meet his unknown enemy. One day he released suddnely and what follows is his chase to meet his enemy.

Performances:
Sanjubaba : He lives the role. With growing age, his intensity of acting also increasing. Right from his getup for the movie to his raw looks, he seems to be really the man jailed for 14 years in prison. He rocks !!

John : Though a late entry in the film, a millinory businessman. He plays his roll whatever came his way in the movie. His cool attitude and tht half-dimple-smile make u go like him !!

Lara : Not much to her credit, but one thing u can notice is tht she is here to stay. She is hot !!

Plus :
1.Sanju feels guilty when he realises his one of the worst played pranks with one of his classmate turn into disaster. He apologises and begs for the pardon.

My Say : Very Good.

Family...Usual Revenge Drama !!

Director : RajKumar Santoshi
Cast: AB, Akki, Bhumika, Aryamaan, Sushant.
Genre : Action - Usual Revenge drama.

Plot :
The film is about two ppl who are over-protecting their families. Akki and AB. AB is a most feared DON whom no one can even dare to touch.Akshay gets killed by AB in a blind shootout and his brother)Aryamaan swore to take the revenge. He kidnaps the whole family of Don and puts him on his toes. Thats the one-line story of the movie.

Performances:
AB plays the Big Don who is handling his underworld busineess from outside the country. Nothings interesting, no shades to his role, usual ruthless DON and a protecting father and AB plays it beautifully with style.

Akshay Kumar is a shef having his own business who is protective of his brother (Aryaman) and always takes him out of all shits. A Short lived role but he keeps u engaged with his gr8 sense of humor and timing.

Bhumika is Doc playing Akki's love interest and a widow later. Not much to her role (who want to see her act anyway), looks gorgeous as usual (thts wht I was interested in).

Sushant, Don's spoiled child. He is a class actor but alas, nothing is justified for his role too.

Aryaman, a new hero launched. Don't know I din't find him impressive at all, but girls liked it. Whatever, he is here to stay and has got a lotsa things to improve on except being stylish !!

Songs in the films are good and no songs once the revenge drama starts.

Top Scenes :
1. Climax scene at the Crime Branch Office. AB just steals the show here. Marvellous.
2. When Akki request some local bhaai to save his "Bhai". and suddenly turns violent after seeing blood on his Bro's face. His sudden reaction and change in emotions are wonderfully portrayed.

Rating: Average+.

Apaharan

Apaharan, an excellent movie !!
Jabardast performances, fine editing and camera work, no songs-dance routine, no nonsense, only reality !!
A man desperatedly seeking a job in police force, forced to do kidnapping and then the king of the black world. A story well told. Every character in d movie has performed to its best... Ajay is marvellous and Nana is fearsome !!
Don't get surprised, if national awards make thier ways to this movie !!

1 Night @ Call Center !!

Heres a new offering from Chetan Bhagat...
For the starters, he is the successful author of "5 Point Someone" !!
But.. this book doesn't match up the expectations.. at least mine.. !!

The story is abt 6 screwed up ppl in life...
1. Sam - A loser in life.. (as per others and he accepts the fact too..), hopelessely romantic. The man with very hjigh inferioity complex .. (somehow..I find this character very very close to me.. except the fact tht he had a GF :( ).
2. Vroom - a sensible and short tempered guy.
3. Radhika - girl had a love marriage.
4. Priyanka - Ex-GF of Sam.
5. Esha - trying her jist with modelling.
6. Millitary uncle.

Its the story abt... ppl workin in call centers.. and how there lifes are screwed by their surroundings... pain-in-the-as* boss... and all tht !! And how suddenly, their life takes a U-Turn and they take on their lives !! It all happen in just a one night... very grippy !!

Very well described romantic relationship between Priyanka and Sam... and their dates... well written !! The climax is kinda filmy..but I loved it !!

Read it.. if u have time...
Those in banglore.. can borrow it from me... to read [;)]

and GM.. quite watchable .. but still useless crap comedy !!
Akki does a gr8 job as usual..as a total flirt...
john is not good in comedy roles... better he stick to serious roles !!
Paresh Rawal is hilarious.... just amazing timing with Akki !!

GoodBye Salaam Namaste... watchable Cindrella Man

Hmm..
wht a pathetic movie it was !!
Salaam Namste... teh season's most awaited movie... and with so many expectations we booked in advance... and went for the movie !!!
What a disastrous start for a weekend ahead !! This movie sucks.. no logic... pathetic jokes.. all vulgar as it seems !! The storyline was good... but screenplay ruined everything outta this movie. I din't understand whether the movie was about live-in relationship.. or singlehood parenting.. or abt the relationship of 2 ppl who wanted to know each other before marriage [:(((]
Anyway... alls bullshit.. not worth a single look !!!
=========

Cindrella Man... : A Russel crow starrer... watched this in d evening to wipe out the cries we had during SN..[;))].. and this slow starter... once on a way.. takes your breath away with every passing scene !! A Brillian direction and editing... makes this film worth a watch. Based on a true story in the 30s, the life of a boxer legend Jimmy is well etched... specially his comeback after a broken hand into the ring is marvellous. The scene where he begs for money to get his children back, is also worth mentioning. The agony of a begging father can seen clearly on Russel's face !! He is a marvellous actor ... after Gladiator and Beautiful Mind... heres his one more powerful perfoamance !!

Go.. have a fight.. watch it !!

Enter No Entry... Mangal me sab Dangal :P

These are d 2 recent movies I watche..
No Entry.. is hilarious.. and a gr8 laugh riot after a long time... and is worth a watch once !! ( I watched it twice in 3 days that too in theathers ) [:PPPP]
anyway.. its a nice movie.. go and have a laugh !!

Mangal.. doesn't stand to expectations.. except Aamir.. theres nothing in the movie that makes it worth spending few bucks to know abt the history !! It seems that too many manipulations with history... and all the mirch masala sunk the movie in deep ocean !!

Anyway... will update in detail later !!

Watch out for Iqbal... Nagesh Kukkonar's new flick.. (after 3 Deeaware This was an amazing ORIGINAL (note in bold) film... with a marvellous story and an unfolding drama that keeps ur nerve ticking !! )... Iqbal got some very good reviews and is worth a watch... please go for it... and do publish ur comments..I'm sure gonna watch this ONE !!

Sarkar

Sarkar... also called as a tribute to GodFather, doens't stand to high expectations !!
The topnotch Caste, the Director Ramu himself.. noone can save it !!

and yeah.. its not an inch closer to Balasaheb Thakarey as its thought be !!

The story revolves around Subhash Nagare aka Sarkar who is like a parallel illegal government doing all the goods for poor people. Enter Rasheed ... who wants Sarkar's blessing for smuggling which he denies. The fight between the two and changing power equations keeps the movie going !! The story sure lacks that extra punch... dunno wht.. but lacks it for sure !!

Indicidual performances are too great.. Abhishek's fine performance can't be neglected... and even the small characters stand out as it is always the case for a Varma Film. AB stills the show as always. This man's on-screen presence is just magnificant!! Even KK is impressive in his role of Sarkar's spoiled son. Overall.... the story lacks something.. but can be seen once !!

Rating **and Half !

Parineeta

Parineeta.. means "The Married Woman" ( I came to know while writing this ;) )
Anyways, this Vidhu Vinod Chopra's musical love story based on Sarat Chandra Chatopadhyaay's poetic prose is worth a watch several times. So, what makes it so worth is the treatment of film. Being giving attention to finer details of the every frame of the film makes it stand out. The casting of the film is just perfect with everybody performing to their best of abilities, no non-sense dailogues neither lose screenplay. Every character its own charm !!

The USP of the film is MUSIC... too good.. composed by Shantanu Moitra (Never heard him b4 :( ) and penned down by Swanand Kirkire. Every song is eternal mostly sung by Sonu ( He is performing in Pune this week.. and I'm gonna catch him this time.. ), and very sweet Shreya Ghoshal, Even Chitra (remember her ??)is back with "Raat akeli to". Anyways.. what I meant is this film is must for music lovers, and bade parde ka mazaa hi alag hai.

The film revolves around Shekhar (saif), the budding musician, and Lolitha's (Vidya..uhh..) love. The neibours are madly in love with each other and everything seems to be right till the man Girish (Sanju Baba) enters the scene. Girish, every woman's dream man, takes care of the family of Lolitha in their worst of times paying their debts/hospitals and et.all. Naturally, Shekhar gets annoyed with his presence around Lolitha and some misunderstanding and boom.... seems both lost each other. Though love strikes one good holy night between Shekhar and Lolitha, they exchange the Malas and got married in a bedroom by accident though [;)]
Girish take everybody from Lolitha's family to London and some news of their marriage comes to Shekhar. He leaves his music for love and gets into his Papa's business (The Villain, u could say ) and agrees to marry ... hmmm...ummm.. f'got her name..:D played by apni Diya Mirza [:P]
.
Anyways... film is headed towards a final climax in at the Shekhar's marriage ceremony. In all, everybody is happy after the climax.. and why not... Alls Well tht Ends Well.. hai na ??
The Ultimate Bollywood seductress, Rekha is back in an item song u could say... but dunno why . she is still as young and beautiful as she was ever... watch her out [:P]

In all a gr8 product ... and good music throught the film is really a high point.. good musci..
Listen it here.

Two Lovely Movies

I have been to home last weekend and watched some good movies at home.
Yeah man, its been hectic here and in lack of a good companion, I miss so many movies !! [:(]
Anyways, i watched some oldies but which are timeless !! A gr8 work !
1. Maine Pyaar Kiyaa - MPK.
2. Dil hai ke maanata nahi - DHKMN.

Both movies are damm romantic and the USP is the MUSIC.

Both movies have a fresh N' cute faces in the movies like MPK launched Bhagyashree as Suman while DHKMN had Pooja Bhatt (C'mon she was cute in this movie :D).

I have watched them before for so many times but they are just so good that I can watch them one more time with you ;).
Nice work by all...
a Good direction, soothing music, and nice acting by all. Overall a gr8 product to get back to those giggling romantic moments !!

Bose... The Forgotten Hero !!

This weekend I catched this magnum opus and a creation of Shyam Benegal.

It was a late night show of 11PM and we reached helathy 20 min. late directly from the office.
I hate to miss the beginnings and trailors of the forthcoming movies.... but it happened [:(]
So, by the time we are guided to our seats, Netaji was already escaped from his house in Kolkata and reached Peshawar en route to their journey to get into Russia.

The film is a very long (more than 3 and half hours).. and most of all, it looks like a documentary than a film. Netaji's journey and his will to get a force for freedom fight has been covered in atmost details. His controversial marriage to Emillie, his German Secretary is shown in the movie ( I came to know about this in the movie itself )... he also had a daughter from her.
His journey to Afganistan to Germany to Japan is shown extensively with details. Some of the scenes of the movie are just wonderful. In the second half, the war scenes are all mixed and one couldn't get an idea of whts happening in which front. Its all confusing. His batallions were named like Gandhi Batallion, Nehuru Batallion, Rani Laxmibai batallion and like tht. He was a true patriot who wanted the freedom of his nation at any cost and by any means. Cudos to the superhero who just ran out of luck when Japan surrendered in the second world war and his INA (Indian National Army) din't have any support to carry on the fights against British. but still he managed to let the world recognise India as a one nation irrespective of so many religions/languages practised in India. Last but not least, the film din't answer whether Bose actually died during his airplane crash. So, his fans can still expect his return to the independent and free India !!

Caste : Sachin Khedekar is the perfect image of the Bose, he plays the role to his full capacity and he gives full justice to the role. Rajit Kapoor aka Byomkesh Bakshi stands out due to his sheer enthusiasm and patriotism. He wants his motherland to be free and that too very soon, always ready for a fight. Rajpaal Yadav, Kulbhooshan Kharbanda, Pankaj kapoor, Divya dutaa , and Raajeshwari ... all played theor roles to their full potential. The Hitler shown was more like a comedian than a real Hitler, din't know but everybody was laughing at the so thin Hitler ;)

Director, Shyam Benegal shot the movie in all the real locations, has done his research well and comes out with a good product. The movie is mainly for history lovers and it sure is must watch for Bose fans.

Music... AR Rehmaan, the master of music is yet again delivered a music that just keep haunting even after you leave the movie hall. The "Ekla chalo re" ... "Chalo Dilli..." and "Azaaaaaaadi" are just superb. The "Azaaaaadi ..." song shown in the end of the movie with Bose's all original clipping, it stopped all the public moving out of the movie hall to watch that. a gr8 music again !!

Here u listen the Songs...
Still from the Movie...

P.S. : Sorry for any typos... as I completed this in a hurry :)

Lucky .. No time fo r Love !!

Yes.. the film is releasing today. But I got a chance to watch its premier show just half a day ago.
It was a nice crowd at E-Square, Pune's famous multiplex and the timing for the film was given as 9.00PM which was delayed to 10.00. But, the prints were not yet in the screen (as it was the first show). They started with the trailors and shown us the trailors of all the forthcoming movies !! Phew... it was already past 10.30.. and with each trailor, ppl in the theater.. mostly college crowd and youngesters.. were whistling, yelling at the owners as the film was being delayed terribly !! We got the intermission from Trailors at 10.45 PM.. And then outside the screen everybody got on the nerves of the owner (Bechaara... kaam ke boz ke maara.. upar se print nahi.. ise chaahiye Sinkaara ;)) ).
Anyways... with heated arguments passing to and forth... between the mob and manager, the print got into the theater. Everybody relaxed... Huhhhhhhhhh... *sigh of relief*

The film started well, the title role of Lucky (Sandhya), though a newcomer was played with at most innocence. [ I liked her Blue eyes.. and her lips !! She is the combination of Ash and Riya Sen.. and looks gr8 !! ] The first half was very good and the story gets dragged in the second half with all those heroics and all. Won't go in much detail of the story here.
Other aspects of the film :
Salmaan acted nicely... and he is a relief in the movie with all those wiity remarks of his on Luvky Negi, it was fun watching him. The other supporting actors Vikram Gokhale, Ravi Vaaswani and Navani Parihaar done execllent job in their very small roles. Mithunda is back again. This time helping the couple to get reach the home. His role was though significant was unnecessarily turned into the comedy kinda role and his presence anywhere with all those get-ups was highly bollywoodish ;)) Anyways, the music is just nice and songs and their picturisation is also good (at the cost of the slowing the film). Adnaan Sami's first movie music(I guess), but his job is well done. What else... ??? :-?

OK.. rating.. Average ** !!

Five Points Someone

Roaming on the streets can sometimes get u an interesting thing. We just moved into a book store by roadside on one of the weekends. Me, Shuchi and Vinayak, 3 of us were just looking at the books in the stall and Vinayak and shuchi were talking about the good literature that is available and which they read in recent times. I was bizi in looking at the stuff that I was interested in [;)]
Anyways, after VinShin's suggestion, Shuchi bought this book called "Five Points Someone" by Chetan Bhagat !!
Again Shuchi bought one new book to read which I was sure he won't complete it as usual !!
But thsi time I was wrong,
Shuchi ne us book ko 2 din me hi khatam kar diya and asked me to have a look at it !! See, I am not into reading at all except the magazines and newspapers which I never miss to read out!!
But, as I am having ample time in my hands to pass the time, I thought of reading it !! While on the drive to company, I started to read it!! At last I started !!
This book is really amazing, the story of 3 friends in the IIT Delhi campus. The story starts with a humorous note. The protogonist
Hari, his smart friend Ryan and their 'always in trouble friend' Alok !! These friends start to enjoy their college days than to concentrate on the studies like we did in our Engineering !! The story unfolds some true touching scenes, though Hari is the protogonist, Ryan, Alok and even Neha [ Hari's GF ] is given their space to voice thir views in the story.
Every scene described was like happening live in front of me. Cheta's style of writing is very lively yaar !!
Every relation in the story unfolds before you and you start liking the characters for their realistic approach.
"The Longest Day in My Life" is the chapter that is really exciting, well written and that you would like to finish in stretch reading.
Anyways, a must read book and chance to live through those old college days again ...!!!
