copy-cats !!

Imagine u are a chef travelling around the globe. Obviously, every hotel u visit, u will try to find out the dishes they serve, their speciality and their tastes. And if u happen to like something or think that it will be liked by ppl around u too. What u are going to do? You will try to get the recipe and contents of the same, prepare it as per ur or according to the taste of ppl around u !! Correcto????? Though the original creation is by someone else, you and ppl around u will enjoy it, no matter where from u learnt to prepare the dish !!
Its not just with the chef, even women when go to some relatives places and find something tasty/interesting, they will surely enquire about its recipe and will try to make it at home so that all family members can N'joy it.

The same happens with movies too!! Recently I watched Zinda!!
I liked the movie very much may be coz of its treatment, performances and sticking-to-the-plot screenplay. Later came to know about that its a copy of some old English or chinese movie. For me, I never heard about that movie and even never planned to see it. So, for me Zinda rocked !! And offcourse, the original everywhere/everytime rocks !! Most of the bollywood movies are said to be copied from either hollywood/chinese or south movies. I am happy to see the remakes as long as the movie comes out to be good. When the contets are too much manipulated and originality of the idea gone, the movie is anyway not interested and nobody want to see the movie. But, the recipe u wrote, when trying for urself, sometime it clicks and sometime doesn't!! So, insted of blaming the copy-cat industry, lets welcome and thnx them for making a good work for reaching out to large audinece !!

I heard ( not seen unfortunately) that BLACK is the best movie last year and all blamed it to be a remake of some english movie. Gimme a break. though the theme is copied, it was completely agreeable to remade it as the original movie, how many seen it before. He made the world of blind been seen by all indians. The movie is been refused an oscar entry. but sweeped away witth all teh appreciation it can get for the wonderful performaces and a beautiful direction !!

Anyways, some are best copy cats like Sanjay Gupta (Kaante/plan/Zinda/Musafir). some are ok types like Vikram Bhatt. and some just fail to create any fire at the BoxOffice !!
But, there are some original scripts too, but not necessarily everybody likes it and can ralate with. So, its not a prob to have copy cats in the industry.
The unavoidable comparison between a copy and original is always been there, but it doesn't lessen an inch of work they put in to make it, agree?

Compare the amount of investment that goes into cooking and into making a movie
Compare the mass a chef's cooking and a movie could reach
Good comparison! :-D

A copy is a copy - but no one'd take the credit away from a copy if it's a good one (like Masoom)

yeah... both a chef and movie maker have diff masses. And its not abt the money pouring in for the copied idea, its the idea reaching ppl thts wht matters !!!

Raja said...

money matters, that's why Sanjeev Kapoor ("5* chef") doesn't have any recipe copyrighted whereas every movie is automatically copyrighted

Opps...
tht copyrighting is totally a diff issue:

correcto...

good copy is a good movie and anyway indian remake movies of hollywood movies are not going to harm hollywood movies...korean japanese to chhor hi do.

neal and nikki ka bhi thoda sa part "my sassy girl" [another korean movie] ki copy hai.

but still original good movie wud b really good.
