Bansal's Wedding !!!

December is the marriage month, I guess. I heard that some of the "muhurats" were best to get marry in the last Nov. and Early Dec. Probably that may be the reason one of my classmate Yogesh Bansal, who is a good friend of mine was getting ready to tie the knot !!
It came to us as a little surprise but anyways, he called personally and asked to be there and as it was on weekend, no excuse could be entertained !!
4th Dec, Saturday : We were 6 from Poona going to attend Bansal's wedding. Myself, Shuchi, Shiv Bade, Sujit Karpe, Amit Shah and Kunal. It was a journey of around 10 hours to Akola. Kunal has wonderfully mentioned all the marriage details and all that in a mail on our college group. I am too lazy to write down again the same thing in my own words when Kunal already did it ...
The Wedding pics are available here ...

Kunal Wrote:

" Hi friends,
Hope that all of u have had the time to see Yogesh's marriage pics. And I think all of us surely have 1 question. How did he manage to find such a beautiful
bride for himself? I mean...how did the bride say "yes" so soon for Yogi? ha ha...just kidding.
Well, I would like to take this opportunity to take
you through the day's proceedings as I saw it, to the best of my ability.
Also, I hope that Sujit, Samyak, Shuchi, Bade and
Amit could well publish their version of the marriage episode. Especially Sujit......he's done a lot of
things that could make anyone feel proud. :) :) Sujit had created a lot of hype about Yogesh's Saalis (4 of them, as per Sujit). So, the mood was great and that
probably explains the pics which Chittu was asking about.

Saturday 6AM :- ARRIVAL IN AKOLA
We had taken a Volvo (Bade's favorite...a VOLVO..he
doesn't like any other bus) from Pune to Akola. It was
freezing cold in the morning. Our friend, Raghu Kedia
from VIT came to receive us and then we went to
Greenland cottage. This cottage , as Yogesh mentioned
later, was built by a Sindhi....made me feel proud of
my community :) :)
We chatted a lot for 2 hrs...Raghu briefly described
the events of the day before . We were already getting
the feel of the event. then, after some tea and snacks
(hopefully Bansal paid for them later...), at the
cottage, we decided it’s high time we got ready.
Yogesh was supposed to pick us up at 9 AM. he arrived
and took us to a grand Bhavan, where all the events of
the day were scheduled.

Saturday 10 AM - 1:30PM : Breakfast,lunch, what else?
All of us were hungry. those who weren't, just one
look at the breakfast, and off we went.....pounced
onto everything...wow...everything was just delicious
: halwa, mithai, idli, wada, dosa, sambar, chutney,
parathas, dahi and the list goes on...phew , it was a
heavy breakfast. then, we sat down for about 3 hours
just chatting about
various things....obviously, there were fruit juices
in between...time was just flying and then!!!!!
Yogesh did the round of formal introduction between us
and his Saalis. Sujit heaved a sigh of relief.
Finally, something substantial has happened, he might
have said for sure. Also, it was Yogesh's parents'
wedding anniversary too. What perfect timing. we had a
cake-cutting ceremony. Look, it’s already 1pm, time
for lunch. Lunch was great as
usual. After lunch, Shuchi felt he had hogged like
hell and promised that he would skip dinner for sure
(that never happened, I can tell). We were feeling
like toys with EXTRA-STUFFING inside. What could be
better after such good breakfast and lunch....some
afternoon sleep, of course. you guessed it right :).
Sujit and Bade went to help bansal
get ready for the Ghodi ceremony. This ceremony has a
better name..sorry, can't remember it, so referring to
it as GHODI ceremony...sorry !!!

Saturday : 3pm - 5pm : Ghodi ceremony.
Yogi was ready. The strongest Ghodi from Akola had
been ordered. One look at the Ghodi and you could make
out that she had been working out heavy in the Gym
especially for the occasion. I must say, it was an
uphill task to climb n that Ghodi....but, very
cautiously, Yogesh did it. Everybody heaved a sigh of
relief...
Then, we took on to the street outside and danced a
bit. Yogesh went to seek the blessings in a temple
just before the pheras and we had a Varmala ceremony
at the entrance of the bhavan. that was exciting.

Saturday : 5:30pm to 7:30pm : Marriage rituals.
This was more of rituals ceremony. As Yogi told, it
was very tiring. Well, Yogi, this is just the
beginning. Also, there was the fun part about hiding
the jootis and Mr. Karpe outwitted the SAALIS , which
is seen in the pics Chittu was really curious about.
More comments will be posted in this column by the man
himself, Mr. Karpe. So,keep watching this space for
more insight.

Saturday : 7:30pm to 8:30pm : Getting ready for
Reception.
Yogi was very happy. Akhir shaadi ho hi gayee. He had
written a few SHERS about Reshu bhabhi and of course,
something for the Saalis too. He practiced them in
front of us. We also came up with a few suggestions
and tried adding some spice to his hardwork. But, Yogi
had to get ready soon. We helped him do just that and
he was ready for the reception.

Saturday : Starting 8:30pm onwards :Reception.
Let me tell u guys, I was extremely impressed by the
artistic decoration of the entire lawn...not to forget
the stage decoration too....it was beautiful. There
were an amazing display of fireworks which just lit up
the skies totally. Of course, there was this
never-ending variety of food, which, Mr. Datar
including all of us, did not spare.
Then, suddenly, we realized , it was already 10pm and
time to leave. We went to the stage, wished the couple
and took away all these precious memories back home
with us....Sujit had more memories than all of us
combined, I am sure.

All in all, a great time for bonding with great
friends, which has definitely taken our friendship to
another level.

That’s it from me guys. Hope that the rest of the
attendees share their thoughts too. Hope it was not
boring.

Yogi, here's wishing you and Reshu bhabhi a very happy
married life together."
========================
Kunal has added evey bit of detail that he can remember !!
Throughout the journey and marriage, we had a very nice time !!
The time that is just as valuable as the old college days !!
